@chrystaltree   For the most part, I much prefer to shop locally which is why I spend the majority of my money as locally as possible.  I know the options for brick and mortar are huge, but I feel if I don't support my local companies and workers, then I shouldn't complain when they disappear.  Still, the massive number of empty commercial spaces all around us can be depressing.

@Group 5 atminus 1 It's been all over the 'net news for a few months now. My DIL and I enjoyed going there together years ago. A shame. Always loved shopping there.

Our BB&B here in Chicago closed years ago and the space is still empty.  I do keep getting emails from them with coupons.  I like going to b&m stores and actually seeing the products.  I keep watching Macy's and hope that I have left this world before it ever goes out of business!!

@kaydee50    Our Macy's at the local mall closed several years ago.  Its now a big Hobby Lobby with a dog park in the parking lot.

Yes, they're not going down without a fight. I've also been getting frequent emails with 20% off coupons.  And emails urging me to join their loyalty program.  It's sad.  Why would I join that train wreck?

I get emails from them daily.

They were my go-to for looong bathmats.  Nice ones.

The ones they have now are an off brand.  I got stuck buying a couple (I use them around my cats' litter boxes).  So far they are holding up.  I wash them in those huge washers at the laundry mat weekly.   No issues so far and I've had them for several months.  Fingers crossed!

The BB&B I go to doesn't even have cashiers, you go straight to Customer Service.  The only time I saw cashier lines was during the holidays.

Sad!

The nearest BB&B store to us is still open.  I haven't been shopping in it for years. Used to shop frequently there.  When ever there was a bridal shower or baby shower the person was always registered there for gifts.  I would purchase my bathroom towels and accessories there. Canning supplies were plentiful and reasonably priced. Gadgets galore!  They always sent 20% coupons to us and still do.  Just don't need as much now a days.  Very sad. Good store.

We were going to go this morning to buy a replacement for my favorite down pillow....but woke up to snow. Nah....not worth the spin out. I'll wait until tomorrow.

@Group 5 minus 1   Yes the one near me in VA is closing.  I stopped there this past weekend, not much left sadly.  Like most I used to love that place.  My daughter and I loved to walk around and find home goods, kitchen items, and bedding.  Doubt anyone will move into the empty space anytime soon.  More empty store spaces than ones with open businesses lately.
