They are coming back. Opening 300 stores but none in California. I wish them well, I liked that store. Liked Linen and Things better though. I wish they would come back.

@monicakm

Are they concentrating their stores in a certain area?

None in CA isn't a good thing.  Huh.  How disappointing.

@Tinkrbl44

The info I heard didn't mention where the stores will be, just that they're not opening in CA because of an "unfriendly business environment."  They will honor old BB&B coupons.

I always loved that store and used to buy home items all the time.

I hope the one in Tyler reopens.  I know Amazon will have anything I'm looking for in BBB but sometimes it's nice to be able to touch things you're thinking about buying.

Re: Bed Bath & Beyond

[ Edited ]

I so miss our BBB, which was 5 minutes from me. A new TJMaxx is opening soon in that spot. Happy to have TJ's in town, but I loved the BBB store. I wasn't in BBB every week, but whenever I needed a shower curtain liner, or dish drying rack, or new bathroom accessories, or liners to my Simple Human bathroom pail etc etc etc...there were always lots of home things to get there, that we just don't have elsewhere in town. Not lots of big box/brand stores here...though with some new development we are now getting Target where Walmart left a few yrs ago, and we just got Old Navy, (same shopping center where TJ's is now and BBB was.)

All that said....now I get it. I saw those posts on social media from the CEO of BBB and thought...didn't they close all the brick & mortar stores and go only to online, only recently?! Kind of surprised, but happy, all of a sudden 300 real stores opening again! I wish them well too. I also have always missed Linens and Things...another store I used to love. Back when I bought my condo, I'd go there for various home goods, towels, sheets, bath mats...on my lunch hour...it was near where I worked then.

That was a good store.

Everything old is new again...I just heard on the news yesterday, "cassette tape sales are up" 😳 huh? Are they still mfg those?! AND it was in a news segment that was promoting a new ...get this....VHS rental place for movies, that rents you the VCR with the tapes. That one I'm scratching my head over...wondering who/what/why that will bring people in. Happy if it succeeds, but just wondering at this point.

I'd love to see more brick and mortar return....I'm sick of EVERYthing being online, and miss the real stores experience. I go to real stores still but not like I used to. I do shop in little local shops for gifts at Christmas.

Ok, rabbit hole averted before I went on and on....good luck to BBB!

Different corporate ownership.  The stores are unlikely to be the same as the original BB&B.  Can anybody think of a national chain rebranding and coming back from the dead and succeeding?  I couldn't think of any but I may be missing something.  I still miss my BB&B.

@Pecky That was my favorite store! Mine and my late mother's! We would go at least once a month to see what was new and at Christmas the store was so pretty and they had such beautiful decorations. I spent many a penny in that store!!lol.....
