Your dream sounds so very scary... I hope it goes away and never returns.

@Jackhound Mom You are probably absolutely right. Never thought of that. How strange our brains pull up unfinished business after so many years.

I may have a cure for you........
For years and years I had a dream of not being able to get home from places (mostly the same place) but it could be anwhere. A parking lot in a place I know, a shopping area I frequent,or even the next town from my home.
One day I just got so sick and tired of this constant dream, that I said to myself,...
" I ABSOLUTELY REFUSE TO DREAM THIS DREAM AGAIN!"
That stopped it!!!
If after that, per chance (not often) I did start to dream it again, even in my sleep somehow I had the pressence of mind to say,
" I REFUSE TO DREAM THIS DREAM!
and it works the dream immediately ends.............. I have not had this dream in years and years
I SWEAR THIS IS THE TRUTH!

I'm getting more creeped out. I am at work and I just had to sign up a new person with the same first name as my father. And it's not a common name. I never see it.
I may not close my eyes tonight.
Obviously the universe is trying to tell me something. That's two instances now. Where is a psychic/interpreter when you need one? ![]()

I just sleep. If I'm dreaming while sleeping I don't remember any of it.

If it were me I'd do a few things.
First, I'd go to bed on an empty stomach....don't eat for at least 3 hours before bed.
Then, I'd say a prayer before bed, asking to keep all those odd dreams away from me.
Last, I'd think of something that makes me very happy, or warms my heart as I close my eyes.
That's a dark dream, & I wouldn't ever want it again. I think I could count the amount of bad dreams I've had in my lifetime on 1 hand. ![]()

i haven’t thought about it in years, until this post. i had a recurring dream when i was a child. this ball was rolling towards me and as it was growing bigger, i was getting smaller. i still see it clearly in my mind now. it never bothered me though. i just wondered why i always dreamt it.

I am glad I saw this topic! I also have some weird/strange/crazy dreams a few nights a week and cannot decipher out what they might mean!
Especially troubling is dreaming of a few people I worked with not 3 or 4 years ago, but 30, 32, 34 years ago! Seeing them as plain as day in the dream! Ones I haven't even thought of for probably 10 years or more! I guess they made some type of impression on me for me to dream clearly about them 34 years later!
There are more strange dreams, but I won't bore you any longer! Happy wishes for a healthy, and wonderful Christmas to all of you!

I once heard (probably on a talk show) that we dream about things that are troubling us or that we FEAR will happen.
For some reason, I find that this notion puts my fears to rest.
When DH has bad dreams, it usually is about not studying for exams (which was years ago) or not finding his way to the classroom for the exam.
I now try to analyze our bad dreams in the context of the emotion it is invoking. Chances are, this emotion or feeling plays a part in our lives in some way now, instead of the actual place or person.
My recurring dream used to do with falling from a brick hotel window... and a lady (who was actually a man in women’s garb heavily made up). I told This dream to my mother who became pale. She said we actually had an experience involving this person when I was very young!
I believe I “picked up on” her vibes.

@LTT1 I think you are on to something with the emotions speaking to us through dreams. Making themselves known, so that we will deal with them ... and move on.
Once, I was in a state of indecision that was causing me a great deal of stress. If I went one way, I’d be, for lack of a better description, kind of compromising my true self. If I went the other way, I was potentially jeopardizing my financial well-being which was very scary as a widowed single mother (at the time). So, I had basically made peace with the idea that I would have to go the first way—just accept it.
In my restless dream, I saw myself in my mirror, as though I was getting myself ready for work, as any other morning. But then, also revealed in the same mirror, over my right shoulder, was my younger self revealed. Leaning against the wall, with arms folded and glaring at me as though very disappointed in what that younger, determined self was seeing in my current desperate self.
Woah, did that scare me upon waking! But I knew then that I had to stay true to my genuine core self, or this compromising decision would likely haunt me forever. I made the harder, but right choice and never have regretted it, thankfully.
@Jackhound Mom — could your dream be indicating that you fear change of some kind? A big change in your life is on the horizon and the unknown seems dark and foreboding to you. You are desperately trying to salvage what you can of the known (the plants in the greenhouse). Saving something familiar to cling to and take with you into the future.
Fearing change is a very common thing, and I’ll pray for your peace in your decisions. Only sweetest dreams, too!
