As some of you forum friends know my grandson was in virtual learning for kindergarten and first grade due to Covid and I sat with him each day. ( no problem for me, I would have it no other way since mom and dad worked) So tomorrow he starts 2nd grade in the school building and his mom and dad and me are so excited and so is he. (his mom is a little nervous, he's an only child) but mostly about just making sure he has everything he needs. (he does, the school supply list was very long)  Kids are required to bring paper towels, a box of tissue along with all of the pens, markers, crayons, clip boards, folders and the list goes on and on. Kids are required to bring so much stuff now a days !

I'm having his mom video him walking into the building so I can see him since I can't be there.

So I just wanted to say thanks to all who have provided words of encouragement and understanding through this journey of virtual learning. Some of you teachers have given positive feedback and commended me for being there for him. Thank You ! I love that little boy with all my heart and I had no problem being there for him because mom and dad were so concerned with putting him in class learning during that time. He's a very smart little boy and before  the end of first grade he had started doing 2nd grade math so I'm sure he will do very well. He was already reading at a 3rd-4th grade level and at the top of his class so he's ready for the next level of his journey to manhood and a wonderful career ( he said he wants to be a Podiatrist. Thanks again everyone !

Re: Back to School Tomorrow !

Hope your grandson has a great first day and enjoys the second grade.

That's so cute that he has plans on being a podiatrist.

Time flies and my son is going into his junior year in high school which

starts Wednesday of this week. I miss those days.

How very wonderful!  I still miss teaching, but now teach in a different way.

Maybe he would enjoy a bulletin board on his wall for his work.

I hope he has a wonderful time and has many things to share!Smiley Happy

How wonderful that he had you to help him with remote learning, I did it for one year with my twin granddaugters, it was a lot of work!  You can rest now and go back to being fun grandma!  Nothing is more important that making an impact in the life of a child, bless you.

That is so sweet.  I was working remotely at the time, my granddaughters were older, they were in fourth grade, we would catch up on things in the evening if I had a busy work day.  I just retired december 2022, my daughter just had a son june 2022 so I watch him for a few hours every day.  He keeps me busy too!  It does keep me active though.  Have you considered volunteer work?  You could even volunteer at the school.

Re: Back to School Tomorrow !

@spumoni99  No thanks to volunteering Woman Very Happy

I just recently volunteered to be the class rep for my high school graduation class of 1968. It doesn't require a lot of work but just enough keeping classmates up to date on what's going on including reunions, paying dues and new stories for the High school news letter.  I also have a group discussion class on diet and exercise to control diabetes coming up in September which I am the leader and it's for my church so that will keep me busy for the 4 sessions. I will still miss my little guy but from time to time he will spend a weekend with grandma while mom and dad have a weekend getaway. Thanks for the suggestion Woman LOL
