Re: Awkward Situation Question

@BarbieDollToo Great answer. Thought about it as I walked away.

This post had me thinking and wondering if it is a requirement (bathrooms) w/ certain groups (Porta Potties).

            "May I use your bathroom?"

(placing YOU, the "Customer," at risk of feeling like an ogre for saying "no")

                              More History:

Many yrs ago, I cont'd to hire a local, known teen for mowing/yard work.  Later his local friend joined him as his "team."  Enter:

              "May I use your bathroom?"

Turns out, he/they quickly UNlocked an inside house window when they quickly "used my bathroom."

They were BUSTED before causing me quite the potentially dangerous problem.

(BTW Woman Frustrated- I simply can not wait to see what $queezing more & more of our public's personal finances does for the use & creation of such:

          "May I use yr bathroom?"

already, One of the "OLDEST TRICKs on the BOOKS!"

She might find a surprise behind a tree in her back yard.

I have an idea for future situations.......

If you have a private porch or area in your back yard that is 'private'........

Maybe place a new, portable toilet and along side:  a table with hand sanitizer, toilet paper, baby wipes, paper towels, etc. Also bottles of bottled water.

I've done this years ago, when gardeners had a special tree trimming, and clearing out job on our property.  They seemed very relieved to see my set-up.

I'm used to emptying portable toilet's buckets because of various elderly relatives' situations throughout the years.

I always used to wear a mask and vinyl gloves, etc.

Re: Awkward Situation Question

Yes, I've done the same to workers.  We have a small bath downstairs, so we let them use it. And I always offer them cold drinks.  Tough to work outside with heat and not being able to drink something.

Re: Awkward Situation Question

I found this topic interesting.  Maybe it is more regional, or for people whose workmen are neighbors or I don't know.

I do know that barring the one very odd instance I mentioned above (and was very very glad I didn't let him in) I've never had anyone ask.  I would find it odd if they did.

Re: Awkward Situation Question

I also find it very rude to not let a person working for you to use the bathroom.   We had roofers working replacing our roof a few years ago.   Took maybe 3 days during the Summer.   One knocked at our back door and asked to used the bathroom.  Of course, yes I said and showed him where it was.  Took all of 3 minutes time.  Not a big deal.   We also made the workers muffins in the morning and had a cooler filled with cold energy drinks for them.  They brought some of their own but did use them during their break which we told them to take under the covered patio to get out of the sun.  It is so simple to be nice and accommodating to workers.  It just boggles my mind when simple requests are not granted.

Re: Awkward Situation Question

Luckily, we have very nice, clean bathrooms in our nearby local mall.

With a nearby security guard roaming around, keeping an eye on who is entering the ladies section.

We haven't had anyone actually asking to use our bathroom, so far.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: Awkward Situation Question

[ Edited ]

BTW --- year 'round, I always keep at least 6++ bottles of cold, and also, 6++ room temp bottles of water available for ANYONE who needs a drink, incl USPS, any Delivery, any Yard workers, *any one!* etc   And I continue to well publicize this offer, repeatedly & often.

I've seen death/dying by dehydration - it's NOT PRETTY!

..  but I draw the line at strangers recycling my own generous water supply offers back into my most "intimate" of understandably germ attracting, gathering room/s, namely, my own Bathroom/s.

You like public bathrooms?  I DONT.   Many dont, & for our same reason.  And you can guess just why...

What?  My "bathroom requestors" live 3 states over that they cant find an adequate place to void??

Fortunately, I havent had many ppl requesting use of my own personal Bathroom/s, thru all my many yrs ...

..     and so, so far, my response still is:   "nope, I dont do that."

Re: Awkward Situation Question

It's wonderful that so many have been untouched by misfortune, but criminals rely on the kindness of strangers.
