I finally had to turn this feature off on my phone.

I was texting some of the most bizarre sentences.

I purchased a Firestick.   I messaged my DD about it, it came out as Frederick so now we call the firestick Frederick.

I just read a review here where a poster described her garment as chic but it came out shriek.

"It's such a shriek look"

Have you had a similar experience?

Re: Auto complete, auto correct

We have all experienced odd auto correct words, I would think.  When typing it is important to proofread before hitting the Send or Post button.  It just takes a moment and any glaring errors can be fixed but I do understand how some crazy errors get transmitted. Nobody is perfect, not even me.

Re: Auto complete, auto correct

Oh, yes. And there's an entire website dedicated to autocorrect fails and they are hilarious, especially when autocorrect makes the conversation completely inappropriate. The site was so popular they got a book deal. The book is called ****** You, Autocorrect!: Awesomely Embarrassing Text Messages You Didn't Mean to Send, by Jillian Madison. (The first word is the naughty version of "Darn".) My favorites are when the person tries 3 or 4 times to send the message and autotcorrect keeps changing it over and over or making it worse until the person finally says "I ducking give up," because the iPhone always turns the f-word into ducks.

That may be autocorrect's greatest gift of all: making angry people talk about ducks.

Re: Auto complete, auto correct

I need to check that out.

I saw a meme once that said something like

"Dear autocorrect, please stop your shirt"

shirt = sh&t

I just got tired of re-typing, not trying to brag (LOL) but I do fine by myself

Re: Auto complete, auto correct

A few years ago I was dealing with our City Office over some issues at our downtown store.  I was texting back and forth some updates to the guy over the street department.  I actually called him a "nerd" thanks to auto correct.  I was so embarrassed and apologized all over the place.  That's the worst one I've did.

Re: Auto complete, auto correct

I have never had any awful things happen regarding auto correct, only very funny things. My bff in AZ text me she was planted all sorts of things in her first garden there--she listed them and the last one was that she had just planted was"beers"----now I waited and chuckled and then asked her which brand she planted----and where do you get the seeds--when she text back saying --not beers--BEETS---I laughed out loud!!! No harm done!!
