I'm 65 and wear whatever I like and think is appropriate.

I'm in my late 60's but I'm still in fairly good physical shape, so I like to dress. I was young in the late 60's and 70's so I am still drawn to the Boho chic style and I will be forever in blue jeans. I'm small so I like wearing the short knit motorcycle style jackets Halston sells on the Q. I like Susan Graver pants and Denim and Co., Skinny2 jeans and I just got jeans from HSN the IMAN brand.Although her jeans are very nice they are not cut for a petite figure they are just shorter length and I will not buy that brand again. I buy the Boho style tops from One World at Evine.I like Barefoot Dreams sweaters and Joan Rivers trench coats. I wear Earth Brand shoes the most, but own many other brands and Ryka sneakers are most comfortable for me.

@dex

I am older than you are and I've always been a "classic" dresser.  It's much easier to put together.

The difference now is in the size and cut I have to wear for my expanded body. Smiley Happy    It's not so much that I am dressing for my age, as I am dressing with what fits my shape.  That lets out most of the trendy clothing that is cut close to the body.

Wear what fits you properly and what you are comfortable wearing. Talbots was a great suggestion.  They have beautiful clothing.

This just happened last week.  I am 69 and work part time at Talbots.  I have been wearing their clothes for years and am very much a classic dresser.  Their latest groupings include a classic Chanel style tweed jacket that comes in cream with black trim or pink with black trim.  I ordered it pink and will pair it with a black skirt or a nice pair of black dress pants.  This week a young woman no older than 25 with a nice figure came in ordered the same jacket in the pink color.  I mentioned to her that I had ordered it also and she said she couldn't wait to get it and pair it with the jeans she was wearing.  OMG!  The jeans she had on were blue jeans with the pre ripped holes and the pre bleached areas.  YOu know the ones that cost $200 but look like you got them at Goodwill. So my point is that you have two woman wearing the same jacket but the look will be entirely different on each woman because of how we each choose to style it.

I'm 63 and wear what looks best on me and feels right...it has nothing to do with style & age.

What does bother me about getting older are the sudden odd pains that come and go which I never had before.

HADDON9:  'Funny', that was my first thought before I read your reply!  I find that I have to be more careful in whatever I happen to be doing.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Back when I was younger and starting out in the corporate world, I dressed conservatively in very taylored suits.  I always felt that I was in competition with all the other women in my office and thought nothing of spending and entire salary on a new suit.  Now that I'm in my mid-50s, I dress in what looks good on me and what is comfortable.  I will never be a size 2 again, so I dress for my body type.  I like nice things, but would never think of spending the kind of money I used to spend back in those days.  The only one I need to impress these days is my husband.......................and myself.

I certainly don't choose clothes based on my age or rule anything out based on my age.  I've never seen a size "57 year old" dress or top.  I wear like I like, at this stage of my life I dress for myself.  I do like to look fresh and modern.  I think that old concept of dressing for a particular age belonged to my mother's generation.

I'm sure you are a drop dead gorgeious style maven. With your ego, I would expect nothing less.

Speaking for myself, I've found that as I have gained weight through the years, it's been harder to find really pretty clothing with a good cut and nice fabric for my shape. Polyester has never been my fabric of choice . (Think of dressing a weeble)   A smaller body is easier to dress and there are so many more choices.  I miss having  beautiful clothing made from natural fabrics, but, at my age, comfort and a decent fit guide my choices.

.I like the quality of Chico's and the sales they have allow me to buy their things for far less than QVC or Talbots....I do prefer a bit of whimsy in my style....but you have to be careful as you get older; you don't want to look like you are trying too hard or that you are trying to look like a 20-something. I think sometimes it isn't what you wear, but how you wear it.  My biggest problem is finding shoes that don't look clunky and frumpy like Clarks. I hate a sturdy-looking sensible shoe!
