I read this book several years ago.
It is excellent.
On the doctor's website, there are a couple of self-tests you can take to see if you are a highly sensitive person. I scored 24 out of 27 - I am clearly an HSP.
The second test was even more interesting. Are you a Sensation Seeker? I was not surprised to score 2 out of 20. I am clearly not an attention seeker. Conversely, my DH scored 18/20 on this test, which could explain why the last 40 years together has been very interesting, lol.
If you're curious, here are the tests, but I urge you to read the book, too.

I scored 10 for highly sensitive, and 1 for sensation seeker.

Highly sensitive also sounds co dependent.
Sensation Seeker aka drama queen/drama kings sound alcoholic/drug addicted.

I had a few elements of both lists, but didn't really register on either.
I guess I'm not real, lol!

I find the "tests" to be highly subjective.
The directions say to check the ones that you find to be "SOMEWHAT TRUE".
Who hasn't felt all of the things on the list at least once?
It's like reading the generic horoscope in the newspaper and saying, "That applies to me!"
Or going to a "psychic" to knows how to read the subtle cues that we give off, and tailors the "reading" to that.
"I see someone whose name begins with the letter 'J'."
"Oh, that's my brother Jim!"
"Yes, I'm getting a strong male vibe from him. He says that he was hard-headed but also had a playful, tender side."
""Yes, yes, he did!"
See?
Generic "details" than can apply to most anybody.
Not to say that some people aren't more sensitive than others, but it's always best to view these "tests" with a healthy dose of skepticism.

It seems I am neither. I guess I am in the middle. Does that mean I am well rounded or just different?

Why does highly sensitive sound co-dependent? I don't understand.

I’m an HSP. I read the book years ago and had many ah-ha moments.

HS could mean, a big heart &/or deep with feelings. I don't see it as co-dependent.
