Re: April 2023 Bird's Nest

[ Edited ]

That kinda sums up my yesterday too @viva923   Right now my kitchen table looks like a bomb went off on it.  The kitchen table tends to be the first stop for everything in the house.  Like I bought a set of 2 lamps from Home Depot dot com.

Sacramento 22 .25 in. Brown Ceramic Dimmable Table Lamp with Teal

The lamps required some assembly.  Basically at the top of the ceramic base (on the inside) there was a nut that held a bolt that was sticking outside the top of the ceramic base.

So I had to attach the light socket (everything was corded) to the bolt that was sticking out of the base.  When I scr*wed the socket assembly onto the bolt I ended up loosening the bolt that was on the base already.  So I had to gently remove the cover (felt) on the bottom of the lamp to see how the lamp was made.  I'm not an electrician I don't know these these, I  turn lamps on or off and replace bulbs.

So I turn the base upside down and see the nut.  It's not like the hole on the bottom of the base was big.  Flash forward I feel I need to buy long nosed pliers to give me more length so the kitchen table has both lamps, mail, some pet food I bought that I need to put away, you get the idea.

I ran to Lowe's bought these

These are really cool.  Got me close but the distance between the blue ended handle was too wide for the hole in the bottom of the lamp.  I mean I only needed 1/2 an inch and I woulda had it.

I went back into the garage and found the longest open ended wrenches I could find (14 mm and 17 mm).  I can't even describe how I held onto to the wrench because they were a little short.  Anyway all I needed to do was get something on that internal bolt to keep it from moving while I used my left hand to turn the outside bolt/socket assembly.

If all this sounds confusing, let me tell you it was.  I fixed the wobbly lamp and to be honest I'm not exactly sure how I did it.  I think I know how I did it and I'm not really going to question how I did it.

I was exhausted when it was done because I was doing a whole lotta strategizing, lol.  Anyway, today is the day for me to straighten out the kitchen table and put the new lamps where I want them.  I had to use some craft glue to reattach the felt to the bottom of the lamp that I repaired so I needed it to cure overnight.

My sister is coming over for dinner tomorrow and I gotta get the little dining area straightened out.

@Bird mama

Oh my, it sounds like you had one heck of a day with that lamp. I give you tons of credit for being able to fix it. I have a lamp here on my computer desk that needs some attention also. The socket where the light bulb is screwed in is a little loose. I'll have my oldest son look at it next Saturday.

I hope you and your sister have a nice Easter dinner. I am going over to my DD's with my youngest son. So there will be 5 of us. We are ordering our dinner from Out Back through Door Dash. I just didn't feel like cooking this year and DD didn't feel like it either. Hopefully next year will be better.

Have a Very Happy Easter Everyone.
