Apple Watch Recommendation

[ Edited ]

My cardiologist recommended I purchase a Apple watch that provides heart rate and other heart functions.  I tried researching each Apple watch series and I am even more confused which one to get.  If you have one that has the heart functions, can you please share your thoughts and what exactly does it measure and its reliability?  Is ithe watch easy to use?

Thank you.

Re: Apple Watch Recommendation

I had one of the earlier ones and I'm thinking about buying the newest version for my husband and myself.

I never wore mine for full days, and I'm not sure I would now, but there are so many features that I KNOW I'd use, I still think the initial outlay is worth the price.

Besides the amazing health considerations, there is a metronome feature that is accessed by a pulse in the wrist, a LONG TERM DREAM for me.

Both serious benefit, and FUN!

Re: Apple Watch Recommendation

I bought an Apple Watch on a whim one day, series 5.  I went to the Apple store "just" to look and the next thing I knew.....

While I don't use all the bells and whistles, I have to say I love my watch and don't wear any of my other watches now.

I would get the latest version you can.  There is a learning curve with it, but I absolutely love it.  Oh, and it comes with a free 1 hour training session with an Apple support person.  Training is done on the phone.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Apple Watch Recommendation

I have a series 6 and I use it to track my sleep, calories burned during the day, heart rate etc. if you get one I would get the latest and greatest which is series 7. You want it to be able to update for a few years plus have all the latest features.

Im looking at them also.  I want the one that has the fall detection along with the other heart programs.  Im not sure which one has the fall detection, so I have to check ou the Apple store I guess.  I did read an article that said the only diffrence the current one has and last years model is actually the size of the bezel, and recommended buying last years if you didnt want the larger face.

@Calcgirl , the mods deleted my reply.  Honestly, this is why people are leaving this board by the hundreds.  So silly.  LM

Re: Apple Watch Recommendation

We have waited for the release of the 7.

You will have to decide on Cellular or not.

Cellular allows you to use your watch for all functions that a phone would do even if your phone is not with you. Cellular will probably have added cost to your plan.

GPS only allows full watch functions with your phone with in proximity to the watch.

The Apple site has a good explanation of aluminium vs stainless steel (and titanium). They also show different bands and combinations.

The site has side by side comparison of the models and features.

It shows all those health features that you want.

I will get 41mm (smallest) aluminium GPS (no cellular)

Be sure and check out the new Hermes! Doesn't hurt to look.
