Re: Anyone else get a little down

@ Qualityshopper
I can totally relate to your feelings surrounding Christmas. I want to emphasize how lucky you are that your parents together crafted that nativity set. It must have been s labor of love. Maybe next year. They will be with you .
My dad passed the day after Christmas years ago and I think that has changed it for me. But I try. It does take time.

I always have felt this way. Seems so dull and boring without all the pretty decorations and tree. I do put a grapevine tree with white  lights up after tree is down and this helps. Can you even buy them anymore??

Mine is one that my Mom had for a long time and after she died I use it now.

Re: Anyone else get a little down

I’ve always loved colored lights, so I hate taking them down. They make it look so cheery at night.  I make my own window candelabras with different colored battery tea lights and I miss all the spots of bright colors.

The Christmas holiday is over way too fast for me.

Re: Anyone else get a little down

Not at all. We don’t do anything special for Christmas, so it’s just another day for us.

Weather wise, this is the best time of year for us. Sunny most days and I can grill out anytime I want to, plus we don’t observe daylight savings time.

Re: Anyone else get a little down

Our living room looks completely vacant when we take down the tree because the tree is a huge one. Now It is cold and dreary...time to start dragging stuff back out to fill up the room.

Re: Anyone else get a little down

@happycat  Well....let's see.  As I said, I get bored very quickly....with everything.

So, I've plugged it in in various places (BOY!  Is it bright).  I even bought the glasses to shield my eyes.

OK, so I think total (so far) I've sat near it....maybe 5 minutes!

Now do go getting all uptight!  I told you I don't follow through...but another dreary, gross day here in Va, so I plugged it in again (second time today).  I'm going to sit near it for a few minutes.  I never sit still for very long...(That's the problems).

Also, because of my bad back, it starts to hurt when I sit for long period of time.  I have to get up and move around.  But I'll try!

I need you guys to keep asking me and hopefully I'll feel guilty enough to follow through with it.

I'm overly honest (sometimes it drives me crazy to always tell the truth).  It can be a problem sometimes....anyway,

I'll report in maybe Monday (I always stay home on the weekends, so I'll be able to sit near it).

That's another problem because during the week I run around doing nothing...well, errands.  Once I leave the house (and because I kind live a ways out) I don't go back and forth home.

When my friend calls for lunch (around 11-12:00) I'm gone and don't come home until 4 or 5.

They tell you to use the light early in the day because it can affect your sleep (keep you awake).

Stay tuned....Don't give up on me yet!

Re: Anyone else get a little down

@moon_gazer  There are a lot of people like us.  I think a lot of people are like us, they just don't realize it.

Maybe they feel that way now and then and just think it's not a big deal.  But when you realize what's going on....just plain UGH!

I don't need pills to make me happy.  I don't want to take pills for that.  Hopefully, this will work.

I'm not depressed to the point where it needs medication.  I just don't have energy and feel bla and don't want to leave the house.

The cats love that I'm here more.  Come to think of it I notice a difference with them.  Cats will move Heaven and earth to sit in the sunlight.

That's why they're smarter than we are.  Ha!

Re: Anyone else get a little down

Sorry for your loss ECBG. We just lost our 28 year old daughter in October, so there was no holidays for us this year. No tree, no decorations and no lights outside our house. We are devastated beyond words. Something with her electrical impulses to her heart made it stop. Our hearts are broken. She was a vegan and a fitness nut. No smoking, drinking and a real homebody.  Everyone says it will take time for us to feel better again. I hope so. No rhyme or reason for this to have happened, but I guess thats how life works.
