@SilleeMee , I love the food from the Caribbean! The roasted pig sounds much like the Kalua pig cooked in Hawaii.

@rockygems123   I haven't eaten meat in 30 years.  But I did at one time. Pulled pork was my favorite meat ever. Omg. We woukd roast a huge, huge pork butt. With garlic cloves poked in all over sometimes I made a spicy bbq sauce. But plain with garlic, salt n pepper rub was best  roast hours and hours, slow. Omg, I still think about those burritos, tacos, BBQ sandwiches we made. You have to pull it slowly, with 2 forks, after juices settle. YUM

we got a good Kaiser roll, or ciabatta .  Spread with homemade garlic butter then toast under broiler till sizzle. Then pack with pulled pork. I do have to say, IDK how pork butt tastes today.  They feed the pork better, it's leaner. Not sure if pork butt is same and fatty like before. Their are more ethical and healthier pork choice today than back 30 years ago and earlier.

I make my own pulled pork a few times a year - it's super easy.  I have my own dry rub that I season the meat with first.  Then it goes in the crockpot for a long time, depending on the weight of the meat. I just made a huge amount last week, some to use for our Christmas Eve get together and the rest portioned out, vacuum packed, and frozen for easy meals somewhere down the road.  I don't sauce mine until it's served and everyone can have as much as they prefer.  We eat it with a fork - no buns.

I usually make an easy SF cole slaw or SF broccoli-cauliflower salad to go with it.

I'm not much of a meat eater, whatsoever, it seems. . .

Kindly & Sweetly, my sister has recently referred to me as:

"You're a Natural Vegetarian!"  Woman Surprised

Have NO IDEA when that happened!!  And besides, how'd she know that?  Havent seen her for years!

Shocked the heck outta me!  Yeah, I guess, maybe she's right?.  I just seemed to have become a "prefer veggies/beans/(maybe) nuts type person" - somewhere, along the long, longggg way???

(Yeah, &, just as an aside, the source of any meat isnt lost of me either, as it so happens)

I think, the cut of meat for "Pulled Pork" is "Pork Butt," or,  "Boston Butt,"  even, "Pork Shoulder?" or, "Picnic Shoulder" which I think, can be the least expensive cuts of beef, meat?   (<-- ** corrected later, when brought to my attn)         And, Pork Butt's price, often, often, is on sale frequently!!   Added benefits!!   If you are so watching pennies?  .. an esp great place for $$ savings --->   on your groceries!!..

Absolutely, totally, *Verboten* to me, personally, is the "refined sugar" that is oftentimes used in products to flavor "pulled pork," "pork butt" meats.

If you're like me, and I've come to realize:

I'm a *bonafide*- chemical, "'Refined Sugar' Addict"  As serious a "Refined Sugar" Addict is, as is an Alcoholic is to alcohol!  Woman Surprised

I've been totally, totally, 100%, Off the "refined sugar" as of maybe 12+ years ago.  (Forgot my "Anniversary Date!")     This godsend, happened to have CHANGED MY WHOLE LIFE!  (Not to mention profound changes for the better in my Lab Work, & yeah, *lifelong* "Battle of the Bulge!!")

Intending, just to share this "Pulled Pork" word of awareness & caution --  total pkg  food choice.

Enjoy your choice!  Mangez!   Woman Wink  Woman Very Happy

from your post.  Just to let you know, pork isn't beef, or related to it. Beef is beef and pork is pork.  Pork butt is different than shoulder.  I don't eat meat at all, but I remember that part, lol

@shoekitty   HA!   Thanks for catching that.  heh.  I guess I've been remote, er,  away from "meat," longer than I thought.
