I have two sons in relationships with their girlfriends.  One has been living together with her since he took her to her prom.  They own a house together but haven't officially married.  My other son is in a new live-in relationship and just got out of a three year live-in relationship but no marriage for him yet.

I got the wedding bell blues.

Re: Anybody getting married?

My daughters are in long term relationships, but do not want to get married.

Re: Anybody getting married?

Yes! My beautiful niece is getting married next month! I am so happy for her, but can't believe my favorite little girl is getting married!

I tease her about having a Lauren Sanchez/Jeff Bezos wedding because of all the activities planned. But seriously NO! She is not like that at all! She and her fiancé are in their 20s, have done very well with their careers, are paying for everything themselves, are extremely generous and just want to show everyone a good great time.

I am excited!

Yes, I have an invite to a wedding coming up soon. Still need to get the card and gift.

"Since he took her to the prom"?  How many years ago was that?  You don't mention their ages.  My own two are in their late 30s and my son also isn't married.

My DD only got married three years ago and is expecting her second child any day now....she also has a 2 year old.

I was so ready for her to get married and feel the same way about my son.

It isn't easy when our children take a different path than what we envisioned for them @silver Goldie. However, with time and unconditional love we can get past some of their choices in life.

Clearly, with a 50% divorce rate, marriage is not for everyone. I have a friend that has been with her significant other for 52 years. They are not married but very happy together. Different strokes and all that...

I am noticing that people are just eloping.  I know a few couples who decided to forego the expensive weddings and just get married at the local court house.

Have you made your feelings known to your sons?

Re: Anybody getting married?

Neither one of mine is in a serious relationship. Both have been, and both had their hearts broken in college, so they don't trust easily.

One of my best friends in high school had a very prestigious position in D.C. When she was in college, she was asked out by the young hunky local weather guy on one of the TV stations. She turned him down - LOL! She has lived with the same man since she met him shortly after college. He sold yachts. Never married, no children.

We don't live near each other now, so I haven't seen her in a while.
