Thanks for posting this. My daughter is a special ed teacher and she has been working her tail off at home keeping in touch with her class so they can continue to learn from home. And she is on call just in case her students want to contact her!

My daughter teaches high school and the day after schools closed, she had her live videos up and running. She was also helping her two kids navigate their own online studies, although they didn't need much help.
Teachers in our area are also tutoring for free students who need help in certain subjects. They are helping hand out lunches at various locations.
Thanks, @ECBG.
@Imaoldhippie, I really admire special ed teachers! Your daughter is amazing.

Amen. My daughter in law is a teacher and she has been going above and beyond for those kids. I don't know how they got it together like they did. It is amazing.

This is so well said.
Thankfully I retired in June.
My teaching partner is working all hours trying to continue as if she was still in the classroom. She is teaching herself new platforms to communicate with the students and is constantly emailing parents who are confused about the math.
She is finding new resources to help the kids at home and sends the parents plans each evening for the next day. I know that many of her parents have recognized her hard work.
I hope teachers will be recognized for all they do.

I work in a school district and the district has specifically asked teachers NOT to contact students, provide work etc. due to the fact that these efforts might not be equitable to all students (ex. some students don't have access to broadband internet access). The district on a whole has posted activities appropriate for each grade level on the district's website and have passed out these resources to parents and students that come to the district school buildings for free meals. This may change if the closure continues beyond the orginal 3/27 date but the district as of Friday has not decided when and how any changes will be implemented.

@ECBG Thank you. I am a retired elementary teacher. I was always proud of the profession.....even more so now.
