 Do (canned) sardines:

  1. still have the "little bones" (&or scales) in/on the sardines?
  2. is the choice, only .. canned sardines *in oil*... (meaning, *no canned sardines in water*)?

TIA

@TwinkleBell You can get them with bones and skin, or without.  You can get them canned in oils, water, tomato sauce, hot sauce, with lemons, and all sorts of ways!

My favorite brands are Matiz, Nuri, Bela, Santo Amaro and others--from Metaterranean and European countries.  If you start looking for the information they aren't that hard to find.  I mostly shop on Amazon for them.

@TwinkleBell LOL!!!  TOO many fish in the sea!  Woman Very Happy  Some of those from Spain and other countries nearby are very very good.

They are not cheap, but don't cost more than a fast food hamburger in most cases, and are so good for you!

Have fun!  Happy fishing!

@Hoovermom Do they still say where it is caught?  It used to be on the package and now it says on the web page to check the bottom of the can.

We buy Blue Harbor albacore from Amazon Fresh.  It is sourced in the US.  We like it.

I just checked one of my cans of Kirkland brand White Albacore in Water and it says 'Product of Thailand' on the can.  So, there ya have it.

I kind of expected otherwise, but it doesn't diminish the quality of the product.  I've enjoyed it for many, many years (20+ at least).

For me, I have to watch other types from Asia though.  I once bought some frozen shrimp from the grocery store and it was from SE Asia.  I didn't notice that up front and didn't know it could be problematic.

But when I tried eating some of it my throat got that weird itchy, closing up a bit, feeling.

Being the weirdo I am about waste, I decide to try rinsing the shrimp SUPER well before using and that did make a difference so I was able to use the rest of it.

Never had that kind of thing with the K tuna, though.  Smiley Happy

I ONLY buy Wegman's brand Albacore tuna in water.  IMO it's the best.

I think I stumbled on Wegman's brand after giving up buying tuna altogether.  Over the years the quality of Bumble Bee and Starkist just went south.
