@house_cat  I'm happy to see your update.  There is nothing more heartwarming to see compassion when somebody is facing a potential tragedy.

I thank you from my own personal space for being who you are.Heart

@drizzellla

The same thing happened to me with my second son. I was told there was too much amniotic fluid and that indicated a good chance of spina bifida.  The pregnancy was considered high risk and my C-section was performed in a specialized OB unit. Thankfully, my son was born very healthy, but it was a scary few months.   That was 32 years ago, however, and the diagnostic tools available were not what they are today.

Re: Advice please - delicate situation.

@house_cat   Now that I have a better understanding of the specifics of the situation from reading through this thread  (i.e. your close relationship to the Mother; the Mother has spoken about the baby's situation openly to you; Her feelings about the importance of ACKNOWLEDGING the baby - regardless of outcome)....I change my answer and would give Mother your wonderful baby gift ASAP.Heart

Re: Advice please - delicate situation.

my grandchild was born with that.

she did not survive,passed 1.5 hours after birth. She would have been 9 yrs this year Feb.

I know my DD has items that were given to her when her little one passed. I do not want to ask my DD if she would appreciate it, it is still an open wound,it may be long time ago in years frame,but the loss is still fresh.

Would she appreciate it, I think so, but again, you know your friend much better than I.

Every Feb 8th my DD visits her DD plaque at the hospital (baby was cremated and in a special garden for all babies at the hospital-DD has ashes at her house). She cries much during that day,but with 3 other active kids, she can't grieve long.
