Re: Advantage Plan OTC spending card benefit

My husband has this benefit but as far as I know we have an online catalog we have to choose from.

I will get this benefit in a few weeks also.

This is a great benefit.  Bandaids, toothpaste, mouthwash, aspirin, etc.  Don't buy many over the counter products, but it saves quite a bit when you need basics.

I'm new to Medicare this year and my supplemental plan allows $85 a quarter, but I believe I have to use it in one purchase per quarter.  9 days left in the quarter, I better check it out.

My friend always uses hers, has gotten thermometers, blood pressure cuffs, otc meds, I believe pain relief gels, etc.

@lynnie61 - I didn't know that any of the supplement plans offered benefits like that.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

Re: Advantage Plan OTC spending card benefit

We have a $30 per quarter card for each of us.  Wouldn't you know my DH fell and broke his left wrist and took a chunk out of his right arm.  Couldn't be stitched.  I was so grateful to have that extra for bandages and stuff.  Had to be treated like a burn.  Expensive stuff.  We have also used it for vitamins, etc.

@gidgetgh I don't think they do.  I think the poster is calling her advantage plan a supplement.

Except for premiums all coverage is the same across the board no matter what company issued it.

Yes, my husband and I both get the OTC credit.  We use it for whatever we need to fill the medicine cabinet. Cold/flu medicine, vitamins. aspirin, etc.  Great benefit

Yes,hubby and I both receive benefits.Mine is given out quarterly and does not roll over. His is given monthly and you have until the end of the year to use the full amount.I get $130 quarterly and he gets $33/monthly.

I love taking it to Kroger to get sale prices, coupons and fuel points. You get 5 times the points on Friday so it adds up. I also use Walmart for some supplements I can't get elsewhere. I was able to use it on psyllium fiber that I used to buy at Sam's. A big perk in my opinion.

@gidgetgh@CelticCrafter  Sorry.  My broker who helped me sign up for it calls it my supplemental plan, but actually the real name is Highmark Medicare advantage member.  It's through Highmark (part of Blue cross/blue shield company).  It's $23 a month.  I'm in PA.  I guess I did word it incorrectly.

I think I have that benefit too--but have never looked into it. Not sure if by OTC means everything sold in a drug store?
