AWAKE TOO EARLY :(

[ Edited ]

I don't know why but I woke up at 5:30 and couldn't fall back asleep. So here I am.

I'll definitely have to take an afternoon snooze which will be easy with the rian/sleet/snow mix hitting my window.

We went out for dinner last night with a new couple who live here, too. It was interesting to find out what we do and don't have in common. Most of my long time friends have passed away or moved near their children. Three have been widowed or divorced and stay with groups of single folks. New friends are a first in many years.

Anyway, plans are to make a big pot of minestrone soup and use up a lot of veggies in the frig. I cleared a space in the freezer for a lg. container of leftovers and will put another one in the frig. for during the week.

We still have a storage unit next to our apartment I'd love to go through and donate what didn't fit in here or shouldn't have taken with us....extra platters, dishes, a stove top griddle, but this one is flat top electric not like the gas burners I had for 28 years.

What do you do when you're up much earlier than usual?

I am used to it. Never much of a sleeper. Up early everyday.

I take my dogs out, feed the birds then have my coffee.

Enjoy your soup.

I am usually awak around 5:00 or before every morning.  I try to sleep in but I can't.  Very frustrating. I go on the computer and look at all my e-mails and clear out junk e-mails and respond to friends' e-mails, etc.  I do research that I keep a list of things I want to get info on.  I might do some bills or clear out a drawer.  I honestly don't know where the time goes but I find I really like the morning hours very much.  It seems like a much more peaceful time of the day.

@threecees   DH is awake early (about 6:30) every day during the week to go to work, so I was quiet slipping out of the room. He takes Molly out when he wakes up but today I let him sleep. I found my raincoat w/ my flashlight and took her out. It's still dark out and rainy but the grounds are well lit.

@AngelPuppy1   I'm a morning person, too...more productive from 7-3PM and then not much is accomplished. I usually nap for an hour and then think what's for dinner.

I can put something in the oven while I paint for a few hours. You're right that mornings are quiet and peaceful. I try not to turn on the TV and just listen to classical music.

Good morning! I'm an early riser and usually wake up around 4 or 5, even though I retired nearly 10 years ago! I usually go to bed around 10 or 11, but even if I stay up later or go to bed earlier, I still am bright-eyed at 4. I do find that I have a bit of energy at that time. I go outside and look at the stars and moon for about half an hour, then read a daily prayer book for about half an hour. I love early mornings.

@Shanus

Yes, I forgot to mention that I usually turn on soft jazz music.  It puts me in a very good head space generally speaking!  A good way to start the day!

I'm always up early for work.  On the days I do not work and still wake up early I enjoy having my coffee and playing on my tablet.   I ease into the day and no rushing to get ready and out the door.    I have pets so take care of their needs first.  That happens no matter what time I get up.

Sunday is my favorite day of the week.  It is all mine and all my chores are done and usually go to mass Saturday night.  I do whatever I want on a Sunday.  Next week bowling with a group and this weekend cooking soup and bread and enjoying the smell and the warmth of the kitchen.  Weather is nasty and not a weekend for running.

I do lots of different things and depends.  Sometimes set up a payment or check the bank accounts (I do daily just to make sure all is good), email a friend, check to see what is on the calendar for the week to make sure I don't miss something.  Just stuff like that for me.

I actually like to get up 5:30/6:00.  After my morning routine that includes giving my cat new food and water and checking/emptying his litter boxes I watch the city news for about an hour.  I check email and FB.  Then I read a local and city newspaper online.  I then play a few games of Scrabble online.  Then read my current book for a few hours.

I then finally get dresed and get housework/chores done or do errands.

I always think I hate getting up so early but the odd morning I sleep later I don't like it - it makes the morning go too quickly.

Your minestrone soup sounds wonderful - I love minestrone.

Our timeline is different than most others. We get to bed by 9:00 & wake up at 5:00. We're morning people.
