I, quite frankly don't have a "problem" with the moderation. If anything, I wish that they had taken a stricter approach towards the pandemic threads that always turn into fights because people just can not accept that there are differences of opinion.
I don't come here that often because I have other things to do and it's just a form of entertainment during some downtime. Additionally, there's just very little that interests me. It's the same subjects over and over and over again. They've been done to death.
I'm also weary of the handful of posters that seem to think that they are the queens of the boards and that everything needs to revolve around them and what they want. It doesn't.

@qualitygal wrote:@NicksmomESQ Yeah, it's too bad. But I've seen people shredded to bits here, never to be heard from or seen again. It can get pretty bad.
@qualitygal I'll stick my skinny neck out and say that's where the mods are failing to step in.

Maybe if people who intentionally posted topics that aren't allowed would get slapped they would stop. Those posts only divide this place into sides. But then I do believe some want a one sided board where everyone has the same ideas about things.
I would hate it if political discussion was allowed here. It just isn't the place, and people need one place to get away from the polarization. I have received good advice , kindness, great recipes, and entertainment reviews, I can get my politics elsewhere.

Like I mentioned in the thread that was posted asking for a political board it would be bad for business for Qvc as well.

The mods aren't going to relax the rules here. They are following guidelines set forth by executives.
Suggesting that the the mods relax the rules or ease up on poofing or deleting is challenging moderation.
They aren't going to change anything here. It's up to posters to control themselves or start threads that interest them.

I have been here since the 1990's and have copies of dated recipes to prove it.
Now? I rarely come because of about a half dozen ill-tempered people who only come here to scold people and congratulate themselves.
They don't like discussion, anyone who disagrees with them, or anyone who dares to, gasp!, reply to a post in a way that they did not specify or introduce another thought get talked down to and dressed down. A couple of them have been here a long time, and something awful must be going on in their lives because they didn't used to be like this but boy they show up now to be negative and critical over the smallest thing.
I guess as a society, discussion is forbidden. The moderators help, but they put up with way too much from this group and you have to take those poster's lumps and like it I guess.
And then there are the threads you open hoping for a discussion and finding nothing but pictures of deer. Couldn't they tag those? It would be polite and kind.
And people constantly complaining. Life isn't perfect, get a grip over stuff that doesn't matter in this day and age. Have some compassion for people with real problems.
So no, after all these years, it's really different here now.

@Lipstickdiva wrote:I don't ever see QVC allowing Current Events or political conversations. They used to allow that and those were the boards and topics that always got the most ugly and needed the most moderation. I want to think Community Chat used to be called Current Events or something similar before the name change.
The mods have said more than once that they are not adding more discussion topics.
Personally if I want to chat about something that isn't allowed here, it's easy enough to find another venue. This is a shopping channel board. We are lucky we don't have to stick to 100% QVC/HSN only topics.
@Lipstickdiva As I said, because beauty/fashion is no longer of number 1 importance in our live, people have gone to FB or other places.

@Sooner You do make valid points, but is "complaining, getting a grip", depending on the subject, a cry for support and a need to vent?

I feel the need to talk about covid again...it's one of the few things we are allowed to talk about.
How other people instinctively knew from day 1 that this pandemic would never end is beyond me because I don't think that way. I'm much too optimistic and to think that there would be mutations that a vaccine could not possibly protect us from was just not how the human race was going to end in my mind..no these are not the end times.
But when Moderna made their announcement the other day it completely changed my thinking. There are too many variants and they won't stop coming. The fact that the Moderna vaccine has to be reworked means what for the millions who already got vaccinated? This is not like the flu. Covid-19 is bombarding us with variants from many countries and now Ca has their own variant. These people who claim there is a template and all it takes when a new variant rises up is to tweak it with genetic bits are dreaming. Instead it's going to be a sordid game of whack a mole and reworking vaccines over and over again. That is why we have to wear face masks forever (correctly worn that is) if we want to stay alive.
I will never eat at a restaurant or go to a movie again. All the plans that my husband and I had have evaporated into thin air. We will never stay at a hotel.
Yes I know there are therapeutic to quickly cure someone. I don't want to get sick. I don't want medical bills.
Hospitals and doctors expect to be paid regardless that it's a pandemic. By the way, Moderna now calls it an endemic which means it will always be here.
Thanks for letting me get this off my chest.

@agb80 Somewhat off topic, but perhaps I opened that door.
