Re: AAA - Do You Have It Currently or Had it In the Past?

Ugh. AAA really? We canceled them years ago when we had severe ice damage from a winter storm and they wouldn't cover it. We wasted so much money with them and there was always an excuse why they wouldn't cover things. Changed insurance and had complete coverage with everythng.

I've had it ever since I first owned a car and, like others here, I would not be without it.

Re: AAA - Do You Have It Currently or Had it In the Past?

We have had AAA for many years.  It has been a life saver several times over the years.

I once had a battery die while I was in a local shopping center's parking lot.  I just decided then & there to have AAA replace the battery (It was an older car about 15 years ago).  I remember the whole process didnt take long at all.

I still have it but I haven't had to use it in recent years.  Better safe than sorry...

Re: AAA - Do You Have It Currently or Had it In the Past?

We have had it for years.  Many have said their insurance company covers roadside assistance and while that is true in our case you have to find someone, call them, get towed and then submit the bill for reimbursement.  If that is incorrect, sorry. In your immeidate area that would not be an issue but is if you are travelling.

With AAA you call the number on the card and they get hold of someone and sends them to you.  My husband has several older (like 1960 collectible) vehicles and those are the ones we have used it for.  In one instance we had just picked up a 60's truck and driving to SC from MN (flew to MN to pick up) we had a major car issue.  Called the number and (it took a couple of hours) and a roll back came to pick us up.  The driver turned a very unpleasant experience into tolerable.  Since he knew the area he took us almost an hour away where he knew the auto parts store would be open first thing in the am, there was a hotel, restaurant and 24 hour Walmart all in walking distance.  (We tipped him well and sent a letter to his employer.)  I keep it for that.  If you look at the info they send there are discounts on many other things with the card.

This year I considered dropping the coverage since we are driving much less and have the dealer check the car yearly.  In the end I reupped the membership 🤷‍♀️

I'm ready to bail on AAA, what I've been through with them the last few months with my auto insurance is a nightmare. And today I got a notice today from AAA about my home owners insurance being discontinued, a packet is coming with more details. Ugh.

@kitcat51  What???? Discontinued???  I'd be interested to hear what happens when you receive packet.

@shoekitty The packet arrived...the home owners I have is discontinued because AAA is unable to add 'upgrades' that are suppose to benefit me, my premium will be $400+ more & it also requires signing a power of attorney to AAA. The power of attorney is concerning to me, never did that before to get home owners insurance....is this common now? I would give power of attorney to my sons but not an insurance agent. Good grief, AAA can't even get my simple car insurance billing issue resolved & now they want power of attorney...what could go wrong

I guess I am confused about the insurance being discussed.  I thought the op was asking about AAA for cars that need road side assistance.  I have it and wouldn't be without it.  Knock on wood I have only had to use it once as I had a flat fire.  It's worth every penny for peace of mind.

Exactly the OP is talking about Roadside Assistance NOT Homeowners Insurance. I have had AAA Roadside Assistance for at least 40 + years & I would not be without it.

Yes, we had AAA.  Never a problem. Used the service a few times.  Always prompt, never had to wait long.   Plus there is the side benefit of discounts at stores, shops, etc.

We also gifted our daughters membership.
