I feel for you. It's not easy losing your parent. My dad passed 30 years ago today and I still miss him so.

Tomorrow Oct.18 would have been my Dad's 100th birthday..

My siblings and I will have dinner on the phone together and we are all cooking his favorite meal to celebrate him...We do it every year.

What was his favorite meal?

Re: 1o Years ago I lost my Mom

@I am still oxox I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my mother 5 years ago and I miss her everyday. I would love to be able to talk to her, go out to dinner, share some laughs. My mother was a fun person.

Mom was 93 when she died, I remember the good times and try to live to make her proud of me. Your love for her shows through your grief.

We lost my mother this year, so missing her on so many levels.

Mother's day was sad, so was her birthday, and Thanksgiving and Christmas will be so sad without her.

We still have my dad and he's keeping us on our toes.  He used to be the *easy* one and now he's being a bugger.  But he keeps us going.

Sorry for your loss. it is not easy no matter the length of time or age.

Your mom helped make who you are and how you see the world.

I lost my father 7 yrs ago last week and my mother 3 yrs ago in June.

I was fortunate that my parents loved all their kids (and there are 7 of us) and their 12 grandchildren with such love. Their in law kids were just like their own children. We all knew we were much loved.

Your mother sounds like a wonderful person who deserves to have the rememberance.

It's 21 years for me. It still stings.

@I am still oxox   I get it and feel badly that you're sad today. Mom's are our first connection w/ the world when born and that feeling of closeness stays forever.

For me, I was closer to my dad and on the day he passed, I thought I'd never be OK without him. I mourned for years until I realized that his great memories were more helpful than yearning for him. I kept lists in my journal of everything I loved about him and sketched and painted his portrait over the 15 yrs. since he died. People refer to "loss", but we never really lose someone we love deeply. They stay in our hearts.

Roast leg of lamb..we cheat a little and roast lamb shanks since it would be too much to eat since we are not all together...roasted potatoes..extra onions!..pickled beets..and a cannoli..and lots of memories to talk about for over an hour.

I'm so sorry. I'll be thinking of you.

There isn't anything worse than losing your mom.

Mom died 7 years ago next month, Thanksgiving.  I took care of Dad until he died last Christmas.I miss them both so much that it sometimes physically hurts. I was lucky to have them so long.

Not remembering their voices seemed to happen fast. I wish I had recorded them.

I lost a Brother, Dad, SIL, BIL, MIL, and 3 friends over the last 15 months.  Grief is powerful and overwhelming.

Bless you.
