No stimulus check for Florida this time.
08-21-2025 02:38 PM
I have a friend who work in the accounting industry and she said that the IRS is behind in sending out refunds, for 2024 taxes, to individuals. Also several of her clients have had to go to either the local IRS office or do a zoom meeting to verify their identity before their refunds were sent out. So I can't imagine they would do a stimulus check because they don't have the personnel to manage it.

Hmmm.......Wonder why the IRS is behind in sending refund checks?!

Could be the thousands of employees that were let go by firing or "voluntarily" left this year. Very few employees to do the job so things are going to take a lot longer to be completed.

No refunds in Colorado this year. Colorado has over spent to support other programs. It has never been a "significant" amount. A couple hundred bucks even when there were millions available.
I got more than a couple hundred the first and second year of Tabor refunds. It was significant. The first year was over a thousand and the second was close to that, maybe 800.

Congrats to you! I don't know of anyone who got that much.
Since our state is now deeply in debt, I guess it won't matter.

News to me. Months ago, heard about $5 thousand DOGE checks. Anybody receive one of those?

@Rockycoast I just read that the IRS is trying to hire back employees that DOGE fired. Any agency that collects money should not be shorthanded but now that they have all our personnel data in a special database created to track us, they don't care.

The IRS is not considered "behind" on 2024 tax refunds for individuals, though some refunds have been delayed. The standard processing time is less than 21 days for electronically filed returns, with delays mainly affecting returns that require manual review.
Most e-filed returns are processed in under 21 calendar days.
Paper returns can take six weeks or longer to process because they require manual data entry.
Errors or incomplete information: The return may have errors, be incomplete, or be affected by identity theft or fraud.
Additional review: Some returns are flagged for additional review, which can cause significant delays.
Claims for certain credits: The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC) can delay refunds. By law, the IRS cannot issue these refunds before mid-February.
Taxpayer debt: Your refund can be offset to pay for other debts you owe to the IRS or other federal or state agencies.
Incorrect bank information: If you requested direct deposit but entered incorrect routing or account numbers, your refund will be returned by the bank and a paper check will be mailed, which takes more time.
