Re: Has anyone had experience with Social Security Disability attorneys?

I am just curious Yorkie, why do you think that? Depression is one of the most accepted conditions because it can be debilitating, physical manifestation come into play, and there is no "disprove" test. They have to take the diagnosis for what it is.

Lyme on the other hand has too much 'it doesn't really exist' issues tagged on it.

I am just interested why you think depression would get denied?

I agree. No medical documentation of depression she will be denied.

Sounds like your daughter is so ill and confused. Until she gets the correct doctors I am afraid nothing is going to change.

I am currently waiting for my ssdi to be approved. I have a lawyer for free that my Ltd insurance provides. But I also have twenty years of medical documentation from my condition.

She is seeing a Lyme specialist (who is also an MD) in January. We have decided to try to put all conversations on hold until after the holidays.

One of the fallouts from her illness is that she cannot work and she is unable to stay at the rental house where she's been for the last two years. We've been helping with that. However, my thoughts are now turning towards getting a rental larger than the one I now have and having her move in with me. We can share expenses and at least get that worry out of the way. I am researching that this week.

The process is lengthy. Best wishes to your daughter.

I can really relate to this. I have worked all my life. I got sick in Jan and spent three months in the hospital unrelated to my disability. I am now living with my parents. We had to make some modifications to the house but it is really working. I am much happier. I don't have to worry about things that were really challenging to me.

Yes, I know. And she knows too. The words that attorney said keep ringing in my ears . . . "Social Security is not your friend."

I'm glad it's working for you. It's the only way I can still help her. We are both disabled (me more, physically) but if I can get a one level apartment that is big enough, it should work out better for both of us. Her children will both be in college (her son graduating high school in June will be going out of state), but her daughter will still be home if she goes to county college, so I may have to get a three-bedroom apartment, condo, or townhouse. There will be enough income from what I have researched so far. So, we'll see if this will be feasible. I figure it's time that something has to work for her because it's been a long time since anything has.
