I need to have a cataract removed and am confused by the piles of info I am getting from the dr. and the clinic; my opth doesn't do the surgery anymore and the trend seems to be to send you to clinics where they do lasik and cataract surgeries....my insurance will only pay for a generic, monofocal IOL which means I would still need glasses and have issues with night driving....if I want the Crystal lens or ReStor I would have to shell out about $4,000 out of my own pocket for the Crystal lens and about $3,500 for the ReStor.....and of course no clinic does both of these so which lens I want will determine where I have to go for the actual surgery. I don't want to wear glasses and I want to be able to drive safely at night!
Has anyone had this surgery and if so which lens do you have now? Problems? I appreciate any info you can share! It is a tough decision. This seems to be a big industry now....have never seen so much high-pressure sales tactics since I bought a car!
