Re: Childhood Movie You Still Love

I loved Hayley Mills' very early movies: "Tiger Bay" and "Whistle Down the Wind."

Of course, I loved "Pollyanna" and "Parent Trap."

Movies were such fun back then!

Re: Childhood Movie You Still Love

I taught high school literature/grammar for seven years. I always showed certain movies that correlated with our reading (three different grades):  including "Romeo and Juliet" (the one with Leonard Whiting and Olivia Hussey), "Seven Angry Men," "The Haunting of Hill House" (1963), "Dead Poets Society," and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (with Kevin Kline and Michelle Pfeiffer (the arias from this movie were so exquisite).

I always had students read everything out loud first: it took longer, but I believe it enhanced their understanding (and it made watching the movie an even greater treat).

From all my responses, you can tell I love this thread!

(Another favorite I saw listed is "The Bad Seed"--what an awesome movie!)

@insomniac2  Some interesting choices there. You must have been one of the Cool teachers!

The thing is I can READ Shakespere  silently no problem.  BUT, try to read it aloud and I can't make it understandable if you paid me.

I still have the 45rpm single somewhere of the Romeo and Juliet Theme.

Cinderella! Her beautiful blue ball gown, her golden hair, dancing with the price, and that her mean, ugly stepsisters got their comeuppance!

Wizard of Oz - but it took several times attempting to watch it all the way thru.  I was terrified of the witch and the flying monkeys part of the movie.  And when the witch got Toto it was just too much for me, as a little kid.

Hard Days Night - I was in either kindergarten or 1st grade when this came out.  The soundtrack to this movie is just OUTSTANDING.

Fantasia - I think I saw this as a teen and it was just mezmerizing.  Haven't seen it in a long time, but would luv to revisit it.
