Here's what we did. Group of 1981.
4 C V-8 juice
4 C Water
2 C shredded cabbage
1/2 chopped onion
1/2 C frozen green beans (I found French to be better)
1 Can low sodium tomatoes cut up
1/2 C mushrooms
(I add frozen turnip greens)
1 pk Sweet & Low
1 Tbsp Tobasco
Simmer 1/2 hr.
My friend added an envelope of onion soup and it was fantastic! (But had to be counted as 1 fat per serving).
The entire idea here was to eat almost "0" cal foods to keep filled up.
Tobasco today wouldn't cause a problem.

I still make my version of this soup. I use a bag of frozen veggies and often add some diced firm tofu for protein, Worchestershire Sauce, no turnips or mushrooms. Great for snacks hot or cold.

Add 1 Cup of frozen okra, 30 cal/cup!

When I seen this thread, I had to read it. I don't have a recent recipe from WW, but my mother made one back in the day ( Late 60's and early 70's) She called it her FREE SOUP. In other words all she could eat. If I remember correctly it was made like this:
48oz can of tomato juice
2 cans of tomatoes ( whole or diced)
1 head of cabbage
1 onion
1 or 2 boulion cubes ( beef)
2 cans of French Style green beans
I believe that was all that it had in it. She even had me eating it.. We did lose weight on this though.. Is it any wonder? lol
Sometimes she even made a double batch. Ufda

I used to make this years and years ago when I was on WW. My husband who was very slim, did not need to lose lbs. However, he loved it so much that he would ask me to make it for him.

Basically it is a low salt veggie soup. I can't eat it if it has V8 or tomato juice in it because I get raging heart burn! YUCK! I prefer clear broth or ceam soups because of this. It is similar to the cabbage soup diet.
I have never heard of a cabbage soup diet, but we like cabbage, so I make cabbage soup every so often. My base is chicken broth, not tomato juice, due to heartburn, but I do add a can of cut-up stewed tomatoes plus whatever we have in hand--onion, carrots, a few slices of potato, thyme.

This is a 1996 version that I make.
2/3 cup sliced carrots
1/2 cup diced onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 cups broth (beef, chicken or vegetable)
1 1/2 cups green cabbage, diced
1/2 cup green beans
1 Tblsp. Tomato paste
1/2 tsp. Dried basil
1/4 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. Salt
1/2 cup zucchini, diced
in large saucepan coated with non stick cooking spray sauté carrot, garlic and onion over low heat until softened. Add broth, cabbage, green beans, tomato paste, basil, oregano and salt. Bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer, covered, about 15 minutes or until green beans are tender. Stir in zucchini and heat 3-4 minutes. Serve hot.
makes 4 servings

Ladies, ladies, ladies!!!! This is a great start. How about other WW recipes you use that is helping to lose the weight, and/or maintain. This is where tried and true, and enjoyed comes in. What do you think, more of the same?
