A neighbor's dog died of cardiac arrest when she took it to be groomed. I was impressed to hear the the groomer tried to save it by performing CPR. Not having had a dog in many years, this isn't something I'd ever think about, but obviously medical emergencies can happen. To be clear, this happened as they walked in to the groomers, not while it was being it was being worked on. So sad and shocking.

There is no license required to be a dog groomer. Some groomers are just naturally talented and learn from watching and helping in a shop.
There are also online courses teaching you how to groom and also there are some schools you can attend.
There is no requirement to learn CPR or any lifesaving measures.
Anyone can go to the American Red Cross website and learn to do CPR on pets. The course takes about half an hour to get through.
It's a great thing for groomers to know, and many do...as do pet owners.
