Best way to eat sardines ???

I want to try something I have never tried before. I want to get a can of sardines.

Need advice. Do you just put them on a cracker and eat them? Also, which should I get, the plain ones or the flavored ones.

And lastly, this may sound very dumb, but are they really fishy tasting or are they a mild flavor ?
