Why Wait Until Christmas Eve?

I know the economy is bad, blah, blah, blah but why did they wait until Christmas Eve to have an all day jewelry event? I remember back in the old days they used to have the 101 jewelry gifts, etc. Why couldn't they at least have had something when you could actually buy Christmas gifts? I mean I enjoyed the all day jewelry show because I was home from work today but it would have been nice to have something like this before Christmas eve! Santa is gonna give you coal in your stocking, "Q"!!!!
