need sizing advice please

According to the measurement charts, I should still be wearing 2x shirts. The 2x Linea tops I currently own are too big, they hang on me. In LOGO, I wear mostly L, of course, those tops are very loose and flowy. The shawl sweaters are calling my name, shawl collars are my favorite. I am thinking I should order XL. Any feedback?
