The optical illusion makes the model's hips look huge compared to her torso. Woman Surprised  Not a figure-flattering style at all.

 

ETA: And the pants are too short.

I think this is meant to be worn in the summer without a top underneath so that the unmentionable parts show but they could not do that --- well, maybe they could --- at Nordstrom but did not.  I think it is meant to show more flesh.

I dislike vests so not a fan of this look. The vest looks way too narrow to me, and the pants are too short.

It looks like the upper and lower body of the model is that of two different persons in the frontal view.  The huge hips are not appealing in the lower view.  Overall, awful!
