new smart phone help

{#emotions_dlg.scared} I got a new samsung galaxy III smart phone. I am trying to text and one text went throgh but othes did not. at the time I was in a good location to text. I only recieved a text from ATT other people tried texting me and I didn't get them. Does anyone know why this happens?? Could something been missed in the set up?? This is my first smart phone.I do know where to do it just don't understand whats going on. I also live in a town where there is no ATT store to go for help. I think maybe Walmart can help me or radio shack since they sell ATT. Please help!!!
