Router Question...

I want to get my husband a new laptop for his birthday. I need a router for wireless connectivity.

We'll be moving to another state in about 2 weeks. Will moving effect the brand I buy or anything else of the router? Or, should I wait until we move to our permanent location and then buy a router?
