I need a new computer

I have a question. I need a new computer mine is like seven years old very slow. My question is when I get a new one do I just plug it in and turn on and does the computer tell me what to do?? I don't have that much knowledge with computers. I don't know what I need all I do is email, facebook, go to websites and print coupons. I don't use it for work or anything. I think I want another desk top. I even have the kind of internet where my phone line is used but I can still be on line. I don't understand how wireless works or if I need it for a desktop. My orginal computer is a dell also my printer is a dell I would like to use the old printer it workks fine for coupons. thanks for the help.
