OP, not sure if you've decided or not, but Amazon has this tablet for 39.99 today with free shipping.

I have this tablet and love it.  There is a TON of free content available from Amazon and I find the Fire tablets very easy to use.  More so than the IPad.

My Fire will never take the place of my iPad, but for what I bought it for (to maximize the benefits I get with Prime) it's perfect. I have lousy, data-metered wifi and trying to stream anything is an exercise in frustration. I can download free Prime videos in the wee hours and watch at my leisure.  If you are part of the Amazon infrastructure it's a no-brainer; if you're not it's still useful. It's no iPad as far as its specifications, but it's a good useful device.
