Maybe a good example.  Others in a workplace environment, store, school or where ever. These people who feel good about spreading rumors or come into a public space in a bad mood. Doing so, to have others pay attention to them or play the game of please feel sorry for me.  They may do this to be the center of attention and they feel happy about that. When you come into work you are in a good mood despite the difficulties you are facing. You don't pay any attention to the people who feel good about causing a pessimistic environment, but instead you focus on getting your work done and stay optimistic.  This is the workplace I experience everyday.  Hope this pertains to what you are trying to convey. Agree, 'cept I say it's because their small/narrow minds can't make sense of whatever it is.
