Each day there are lessons to learn and lives to touch. Lord, You
have done so much for me. Help me to repay You.

Scripture for the day:

"And he will destroy on this mountain the shroud that is cast over all
peoples, the sheet that is spread over all nations; he will swallow up
death forever. Then the Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from all
faces, and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the
earth, for the LORD has spoken. It will be said on that day, Lo, this is
our God; we have waited for him, so that he might save us. This is the
LORD for whom we have waited; let us be glad and rejoice in his
salvation." ~Isaiah 25:7-9

Meditation for the day:

We can live today in the consciousness of God's contact, upholding us in
all good thoughts, words and deeds. If sometimes there seems to be a
shadow on our lives and we feel out of sorts, we can remember that this
is not the withdrawal of God's presence, but only our own temporary
unwillingness to realize it. The quiet gray days are the days for doing
what we must do, but we can know that the consciousness of God's
nearness will return and be with us again, when the gray days are past.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may face the dull days with courage. I pray that I may
have faith that the bright days will return.

Hello my friends! Today's blessings for me was Lori time. First we went to
the altarer's for our dresses, then we went to get a pedicure for the
Wedding, then she practiced on my hair as she's doing it for the Wedding.
After all that I needed a nap - but didn't mess my hair - and I'd better be
careful for overnight so it'll be good for Mass tomorrow morning. She did a
good job. Now Linus is on vacation until the 30th. I called my sister Deil,
you know she's going to be 90 in Oct. and asked her if she could come a
couple days earlier than Friday - when Lori is planning on picking her up -
we'd pick her up then, but no, she's so busy - she said if she was in an
apt. and had no yard, then yes, but her apples are overflowing and her
fridge is full of apples to do, and so she will be canning apples this week
for her wonderful apple pies. Also she has Communion Ministry too, gives
Communion to the shut ins. She is very busy! Wish I could go there to help
her with all those apples. Please would you keep her in your prayers? She
is good and healthy now, hope she lives to be 100. She has battled cancer
of the breast - a survivor! She, my friends, is a great blessing to me! For
17 years apart in age we are very close. Praying for all of your needs, and
thank you for your prayers for us.

WORLD...Take my Child by the Hand

My child will start school this week. It's going to be strange and new to
him
for a while and I wish you would treat him gently. You see, up to now
he's been King of the Roost, he's been boss of the back yard.
I have always been around to repair his wounds and to soothe his feelings.
But now it will be different.

Tomorrow, he will walk down the front steps, wave his hand and start
on his great adventure. To live his life in the world he has to live in
will require faith and love and courage. So World, please take him
by his young hand and teach him the things he will have to know.
But do it gently if you can.

He will have to learn, I know, that not all men are just, that not
all men are true. Teach him that for every scoundrel, there is a hero;
that for every crooked politician, there is a dedicated leader; that for
every
enemy, there is a friend. Let him learn early that the bullies are the
easiest people to
lick. Teach him the wonder of books. Give him quiet time to ponder the
eternal mystery of
birds in the sky, bees in the sun and flowers on the green hill.

Teach him that it is far more honorable to fail than to cheat. Teach him to
have
faith in his own ideals, even if everyone else tells him they are wrong.
Try to give my son the strength not to follow the crowd even when
everyone else is getting on the bandwagon. Teach him to listen
to all men, but to filter all he hears on a screen
of truth and to take only the good that comes through.

Teach him to close his ears on a howling mob; and to stand and fight
if he is right. Teach him gently, World, but don't coddle him
because only the test of fire makes fine steel.
This is a big order World, but see what you can do.

He's such a nice little fellow.

When I Said

When I said to the Lord "I am so short of where you want me to be."
He gently answered "That's okay. That's all the farther you and I can walk
together."

When I said to the Lord "I don't know who I am."
He gently answered "That's okay. I know who you are."

When I said to the Lord "I am so tired of fighting."
He gently answered "That's okay. Satan is down for the count."

When I said to the Lord "My actions aren't reflecting my heart."
He gently answered "That's okay. Mine did."

When I said to the Lord "My mind is corrupted."
He gently answered "That's okay. Use mine for awhile."

When I said to the Lord "I don't know how to love."
He gently answered "That's okay. I will give you free lessons"

Split Peas - Joy
Black Beans - Peace
Red Beans - Patience
Pinto Beans - Kindness
Navy Beans - Goodness
Lentils - Gentleness
Black-Eye-Peas - Self-Control

Gabanzo's - Holy Spirit

Directions:
Rinse beans, Put in Crockpot & cover with water. "About 3/4 full of
liquid & beans total", - Add meat, turn on low, cook 8 to 10 hours. (10
to 12 hrs if using Gabanzo's beans) I use liquid smoke, & onions. I also
serve it with fresh bread.

NOTE: I buy 1 pound of each of these beans, open them and put into a
large container, then I mix the completely so there always ready when I
am, I measure out 2 cups and that's enough to feed 4 to 6 folks.

NOTE: This also makes a lovely gift for someone who might be moving or
down in the dumps, if you layer each kind of bean in a jar, then attach
this recipe, they'll always know how much you love them.. (smile)

"MAY YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT HUNGER IS"

"I believe that friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet when our
wings have trouble remembering how to fly."

A Prayer of St Francis
Great and glorious God, and my

Lord Jesus Christ

enlighten the darkness of my mind.
Give me a right faith
a firm hope
and a perfect charity.

Grant that I may know you, Lord
in order that I may always
and in all things act
according to your most
holy and perfect will. Amen

O Virgin Mother

O Virgin Mother,
In the depths of your heart you pondered the Life of the son you brought
into the world. Give us your vision of Jesus and ask the Father to open our
hearts, that we may always see his presence in our lives, and in the power
of the Holy Spirit, bring us into the joy and peace of the kingdom, where
Jesus is Lord forever and ever. Amen

MY DAILY CREED
Author Unknown

Let me be a little kinder,

Let me be a little blinder

To the faults of those about me.

Let me praise a little more,

Let me be, when I am weary,

Just a little bit more cherry.

Let me serve a little better,

Those that I am striving for,

Let me be a little braver

When temptations bid me weaver.

Let me strive a little harder

To be all that I should be.

Let me be a little meeker,

With the brother that is weaker,

Let me think more of my neighbor

And little less of me.

House Cleaning

Last Week I threw out WORRYING,
It was getting old and in the way.
It kept me from being me,
I couldn't do things my way.
I threw out those inhibitions,
They were just crowding me out.
Made room for my New Growth,
Got rid of my old dreams and doubts.

I threw out a book on MY PAST
(didn't have time to read it anyway).
Replaced it with New Goals,
Started reading it today.
I threw out childhood toys
(remember how I treasured them so)?
Got me a NEW PHILOSOPHY too,
Threw out the one from long ago.

Bought in some new books too,
Called I CAN, I WILL, and I MUST.
Threw out I might, I think and I ought.
WOW, You should've seen the dust.
I ran across an OLD FRIEND,
Haven't seen him in a while.
I believe his name is GOD,
Yes, I really like His style.

He helped me to do some cleaning
And added some thing's Himself.
Like PRAYER, HOPE and FAITH,
Yes I placed them right on the shelf.
I picked up this special thing
And placed it at the front door.
I FOUND IT - its called PEACE.
Nothing gets me down anymore.

Yes, I've got my house looking nice.
Looks good around the place.
For things like Worry and Trouble
There just isn't any place.
Its good to do a little house cleaning,
Get rid of the old things on the shelf.
It sure makes things brighter,
Maybe you should TRY IT YOURSELF.

Have you noticed?
+++++++++++++++++++

Have you noticed how beautiful the world is today? Have you
seen some of the fresh, new opportunities that are coming to
life?

Have you remembered today what a unique and wonderful
blessing it is to be alive? Can you feel the richness that
lives in this very moment?

Do you understand how truly fortunate you are to be you? Can
you see the magnificent possibilities that are close enough
to touch?

Do you realize the immense value that your thoughts and
actions are able to create? Do you feel the power of your
own special purpose?

This is not just any day. It is the day that you now have to
work with, and a day in which you can accomplish so very
much.

Open yourself to the best possibilities. This day is now
yours to fulfill.

PRAYER AGAINST EVERY EVIL

Spirit of our God, Father, Son , and Holy Spirit, Most Holy Trinity,
Immaculate Virgin Mary, angels, archangels, and saints of Heaven, descend
upon me. Please purify me, Lord, mold me, fill me with Yourself, use me.
Banish all the forces of evil from me, destroy them, vanquish them, so that
I can be healthy and do good deeds. Banish from me all spells, witchcraft,
black magic, malefice, ties, maledictions, and the evil eye; diabolic
infestations, oppressions, possessions; all that is evil and sinful,
jealousy, perfidy, envy; physical, psychological, moral, spiritual,
diabolical ailments. Burn all these evils in h ell, that they may never again
touch me or any other creature in the entire world. I command and bid all
the powers who molest me -- by the power of God all powerful, in the name of
Jesus Christ our Savior, through the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin
Mary -- to leave me forever, and to be consigned into the everlasting h ell,
where they will be bound by Saint Michael the archangel, Saint Gabriel,
Saint Raphael, our guardian angels, and where they will be crushed under the
heel of the Immaculate Virgin Mary. Amen.

Prayer for Peace of Heart

Almighty and Eternal God
Give me, I beseech You
the great gift of inward peace
Command the winds and storms
of my unruly passions.
Subdue, by your grace, my proneness
to love created things too much,
Give me a love of suffering for your sake.
Make me forbearing and kind to others,
that I may avoid quarrels and contentions.
And teach me constantly to seek after
and to acquire that perfect resignation
to Your Holy Will
which alone brings interior peace. Amen
