Did anyone from the Santa Barbara area (CA) 

see the SpaceX launch last night?

Beautiful....and very, very weird looking...alien-like.

Social media went crazy...!

@sidsmom We live just a few miles north of Pendleton.  My husband called me outside.  He started taking pics.

He's a physicist, and said - this is not a normal launch.  It was low in the sky going south and being monitored by at least 2 aircraft. 

Pretty freaky.  If it was spacex, then they should've announced it before the fact.  Husband is still scratching his head over this one.

ITA it should’ve been announced...it freaked out lot of people!

But SpaceX is a Elon Musk venture...so I’m understanding this

was a somewhat ‘private’ launch...if that makes sense!

I attended a small Christmas party last night at a good GF's house. Only about 20 people but it was all that we spoke about for at least 20 minutes, until we were able to figure out that it was a launch.

They should have announced it. A lot of people were freaked out!

Launched near here. Lots saw it. I wasn't aware it was scheduled so missed it.

Only via a text. My niece was there and took a video of it. Pretty amazing!
