Hello my friends! Well here's hoping you all had a great day after Christmas, maybe some are still visiting, we are. Tonight will be the last night we'll see Darla and Greg before they leave for home in Texas again. They were out seeing friends, and are now on their way here! Praying for you all for all your needs.
God is better to us than we deserve. Lord, thank you for the strength
You give in my trials and especially thank you for the trials You have
kept from my door.
Scripture for the day:
"I lift up my eyes to the hills-- from where will my help come? My help
comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth." ~Psalm 121:1-2
Meditation for the day:
"I lift up my eyes to the hills-- from where will my help come?" We can try
to raise our thoughts from the depths of some of the sordid, mean and impure
things of the earth to the heights of goodness, decency and beauty. We can
train our insight by trying to take the higher view. We can train it more
and more until distant heights become more familiar. The heights of the
Lord, the source of our help, can become nearer and dearer, and the false
values of the earth can seem farther away.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may not keep my eyes forever downcast. I pray that I may set
my sights on higher things.
Mother Teresa Said...
It is easy to love those who are far away. It isn't always easy to love
those who are right next to us.
It is easier to offer a dish of rice to satisfy the hunger of a poor person,
than to fill up the loneliness and suffering of someone lacking love in our
own family.
Meditations by Padre Pio
And yet, once our last hour has come, and our hearts have ceased to beat,
everything will be finished for us and the time to merit as well as to
demerit. We will present ourselves to Christ the Judge just as death finds
us. Our cries of supplication, our tears, our sighs of repentance, which
while still on earth would have won God's heart, could have made us with the
help of the Sacraments, Saints out of sinners, today is worthless; the time
of Mercy is passed, now begins the time of Justice.
Christmas Comes But Once A Year
"Christmas comes but once a year,"
Is an old familiar phrase.
But what do you do with Christmas
Through all the other days?
With Christmas trees and Santa Claus
And tinsel shinning bright,
Many often fail to see
The star that shone that night.
Oh, truly Christmas is a time
For joy and much good cheer,
An a lot that goes with Christmas
Should come but once a year.
But the true meaning of Christmas
Is the love the Christ Child brought.
This should not just once a year,
But all your days be sought.
Please carry through the year to come
The truths Christ came to say---
And you will find within your heart
It's Christmas every day!
Our Greatest Need
If our greatest need had been information,
God would have sent us an educator.
If our greatest need had been technology,
God would have sent us a scientist.
If our greatest need had been money,
God would have sent us an economist.
If our greatest need had been pleasure,
God would have sent us an entertainer.
But our greatest need was forgiveness,
So God sent us a Savior.
Merry Christmas!
