Oh Honny, get a Roku or an Amazon Fire/Fire Stick. I've got a Roku in the living room and two Amazon Fire Sticks (I picked those up when they gave Prime members a discount of $19 each) in the other rooms. I just got a 40" TV for the living room and put my old 32" on the wall in my bedroom where I didn't have a TV. With my Roku and Fire Sticks, I stream right from my wifi and use my computer to surf while watching. I use to do it your way until I picked up my Roku first. I did away with DirectTV years ago and now just have Netflix/Hulu/Acorn for my TV pleasure, what little I watch. They are both ranging in price from $39 or so to around $100 for different models as you can play games on them and both have bluetooth controls, so you don't have to point it at the device, just press it and you are off to go. You can do this from another room or a chair just out of the reach of a regular remote.

Now this is a great arrangement. You are going to love your TV, we also got one for Xmas this year and I love it already. We had it installed on Sunday. This is the best gift yet.
