While at my sister in law's for Thanksgiving, I commented on the softeness of her towels and asked her what she used. She led me to her laundry room and showed me a zip lock bag. She makes her own detergent (and uses Downy Lavender fabric softener). I haven't tried this yet but I've got the ingredients. She swears by it and told me to do a Google search to read how much people like it. Haven't done that yet either. Just wanted to know if any of you have tried it and what do you think of it. I know there are many recipes, this is the one she uses:
2 cups of Arm and Hammer Washing Soda
2 cups of Borax
1/2 bar of grated Fels Naptha or Zote
Grate bar soap and mix all in a food processor. 2 TBL per load
If it works, it will be well worth the effort to make it. Hope it works!
