O/T - I'm looking for my first cruise....what do I need to know??

I've never been on a cruise!! But now that we live here in Florida, it's less expensive to book a week-long cruise than head back to Vegas - airfare out there will cost us >$1000. Add to that a hotel, meals, transportation, etc...and a cruise is definitely less expensive.

I've heard that Celebrity and Royal Caribbean are top-of-the-line. I'm disappointed that Celebrity doesn't have more cruises available when we're looking to vacation, though.

I'll take any and all tips you might have. When I book online, do I get a confirmation like you get when you book a flight?? I'll have to print that out and take it with me? I guess we can drive to the port and park the car somewhere? See??? I need assistance and I'll take any ideas you've got.
