Is powder sunscreen that's tinted (colored) basically foundation? Or is it different?

Hello!

I am wanting to try powder spf but want it to be colored tan so I don't have the white face tan body thing going on. Just want to use it for being outside for exercising & at pool etc.

I've found Jane Iredale & colorescience brands that both carry this type of product. But my question is if this is any different than buying powder mineral foundation that contains spf? These brands Powder SPF products are both kind of expensive so I'm wanting to make sure before I buy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
