If You Have Long Hair

How do you have it cut? Do you have it cut in a V or a U shape at the bottom. I have long hair in the middle of my back and was wondering if I should have it cut in a U or V instead of straight across in layers. I want some layers put in so it will have some body and I can put some curl in it. How do you have your hair cut?
