I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT VITAMINS

I have the rainbow light vitamins and when i purchsed them i didn't know the size of the pill and when i opened them to start taking them they are huge horse pills and having a hard time swallowing them. My question is can i smash them and then swallow it, will i still get the same effect or will they be destroyed if i do that, if anyone knows the answer to this please do tell thank you.
