Before going to a book club meeting, I smoothed some Japanese Cherry Blossom lotion on my hands.
I joined my group, making a couple chatty remarks to the women there as I arranged my materials. Suddenly, one woman crinkled up her nose and asked me to move down one chair because "my perfume" was bothering her. I said I wasn't wearing perfume, only hand lotion, but she still looked distressed. I felt so conspicuous!
So I just put my coat on and left, saying that way she wouldn't have to smell me.
