When you "over" WEN - what do you do?

I just got the Cucumber Aloe oil and put a few droppers on my scalp last night and combed it through my hair, let it sit for several hours. Then I used Tea Tree to wash, applied just a dab to my still wet hair in the shower. Applied the Tea Tree Remoist (that's the spray stuff, right?) and then the styling cream. And let my hair air dry.

Well, the result was interesting. When I have used the Tea Tree oil and followed the rest of the steps my hair would be fine. But this time it's TOO conditioned, borderline greasy looking and feels "heavy" and limp.

So, do you think this was the result of the Cucumber Aloe oil (it was the 4 oz bottle)? That's the only thing I did different. Maybe somehow I just used too much. I think I need to reorder the Tea Tree oil ASAP (love that stuff!).

Re: When you ""over"" WEN - what do you do?

Did you do a double cleanse? I always make sure I do a double cleanse and really get my scalp clean after an oil treatment. I can't imagine the oils are that different. I haven't used Cucumber Aloe or Lavender, but I've used all of the others and have not noticed a difference in any being easier or harder to wash out.

Remoist is the deep treatment product. It's thicker than cleansing conditioner and impossible to spray. The sprays are the Replenishing Treatment Mist and Volumizing Treatment Spray.

One tablespoon of cider vinegar and a cup of water mixed rinse with cold water. Make that cool as you are comfortable with.

I don't think it was the oil. The cucumber aloe is one of the lighter consistency ones...fig and pom are the heavier/thicker oils.

I'd also wonder--did you do a double cleanse...and rinse really well? Especially the scalp?

I've had this happen a couple times and it was because I didn't lift up my hair and really rinse my scalp...and then when I applied more oil after cleansing...like I used a few droppers full on my soaking wet hair before the leave-in...Normally that works fine, but if I use alot of oil for leave in, I cut back on the cleansing conditioner I leave in--I only get oily/limp hair if I overdo both... If that makes sense...

It helps to use the comb when you're rinsing too just fyi...it separates your hair better so you can get rinsed right to the scalp.

I wonder if that was just too many products for your hair at one time? My hair looks awful when I put too much in it at one time.

Re: When you ""over"" WEN - what do you do?

You know, maybe it was the fact that I didn't double cleanse. I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed, so not doing the second cleanse just may be where I went wrong. I can usually do just one cleanse and I'm fine.

OK, so I will try it again and be sure to do the double cleanse when I do the oil treatment.

My hair is fine, thin and wavy BTW. And you're correct, it was the replenishing mist spray stuff. It came in a kit with the cleanser and treatment oil, and one of the nice posters here (forget her name - sorry) sent me the styling creme.

My hair is fine, slick, and becoming fairly thick. Faithfully treat with oil & re-moist, without second cleanse, it's limp and sad.

I think your lack of double cleansing was definitely your mistake. When I do an oil treatment, I always double cleanse. I also think you didn't need the RTM (spray) after such a deep treatment. But good for you for Wenning so thoroughly, lol! Now you know to spread it out a bit :-)
