Hello new friends,

I am experiencing some issues. I have thin/fine hair that grows at a snails pace and I am not sure why. I eat healthy, I work out regularly, I rarely use heat and I do not wash it every day. I also take hair vitamins! My hair was much more thick and long a few years ago so I know it has the capability.

I have been reading reviews about WEN, but I have never used the product and do not know much about it. I read all these abbreviations in the reviews like TT and CC and PO, and so on...I am rather confused being completely unaware of the products WEN offers.

Can the WEN users, or anyone who can suggest any product for my problems, give me some advice on what to purchase?!

TIA! <<-- I have learned that one Smiley Happy

Hi Tayflower,

I bumped a thread on WEN abbreviations for you. Someone else will be along soon to help with suggestions on what cleansing conditioners to use, I'm sure.

I have fine hair that used to be thicker, but I think due to aging (and hormones), it's not quite as thick as it used to be.

That said...if you have some sort of underlying medical problem, or just natural aging and hormone changes (like me), WEN can only do so much. I have been using it for quite some time, and am very pleased with how strong and shinny my hair is. I don't expect miracles and know it will never be as thick as it was 20 years ago

Since Shaunac bumped a list of abbreviations I won't go into that, but yes, we regulars get in a hurry and instead of typing out the full scent name like Tea Tree, we type TT. or instead of cleansing condition or styling cream, CC or SC.

My advice, try the cleansing condition first and see if it works well for you. Each formula addresses a specific hair issue, but there are several that are universal - Sweet Almond Mint, Pomegranate, Bamboo Green Tea, and all of the seasonals (these are limited edition scents, the current one is Winter Cranberry Mint). There are combo packs where you can buy three or more different scents to try them out. There is usually a combo for thin/fine hair.

If you just want to try one, I would suggest Sweet Almond or Pomegranate. If you need extra moisture, I would suggest Fig. There is a really nice set with Fig available right now, which includes the oil. Some people cleanse and then add a pump as a leave-in. I would suggest trying it without the leave in at first (as I find this weighs my hair down, although some people swear by it). Also, for faster growing hair, a lot of people swear by Tea Tree.

Oil you say! Yes, Wen has really great oils that do a lot of wonderful things. I use a dropperful a couple of times a week massaged into my scalp. It helps make my hair stronger. I also use a few drops (nearly every day in the winter) to help with flyaways and dryness on the ends (since I blow dry and frequently hot roller my hair).

The styling creme is mostly for heat protection, so if you don't use hot tools, this is probably not something you need to try right away.

You use a lot of product -although when I think about the total amount of shampoo plus conditioner I used to use, it's not that much more product, I just use it all at once instead of three steps.

As for me - I use almost every scent, but then I am a beauty junkie. I have tried every seasonal, there are some that I like, some that I will never buy again. Also I live in a climate that is really dry in the winter and really humid in the summer, and so I tend to change formulas with the seasons. If I had to choose two scents, I would use Tea Tree in the summer and Fig in the winter.

On each WEN listing there's a link to a chart of guidelines that will help you choose your Cleansing Conditioner (CC) - not hard, fast rules, just guidelines. However, from you you've already stated, I'd recommend Tea Tree. Since you've never used the product, it's imperative that you follow the instructions regarding the amount of pumps and complete rinsing or you won't be happy with the results. I'd also recommend Tea Tree oil treatments on your scalp a few nights a week. I think those are good places to start.

Thanks so much. I have been reading a lot about the Tea Tree Oil all over QVC. I am only 23 years old and I am in great health (weight, chemical balance, no medical issues), so I don't think aging/health can be a part of it. I thought it was genetics, but all of my sisters have great hair.

I have heard that Wen is great in the beginning but produces build up on the scalp and friends have said it makes their hair feel oily and unwashed and after "x" amount of time their hair had become flat.

I guess it works differently for everyone. Thanks, ladies.

P.S. I am not sure what "bumping" a thread means. Silly me.

tayflower - to each his own. Some people may have a negative experience right away or after time with ANY product.

I have been using WEN exclusively for at least 4 years (if not longer) and don't have any scalp issues, etc.

Michele

PS bumping a thread - if you respond to a thread it goes to the top of the list when you sort by most recent. this makes it easier to find until it eventually works its way to the bottom.
