@KKlim   What a horrible experience!

I had heard from someone who had lived  there for a  while, that it was not a safe place for women alone, unescorted.

She would not go out alone at night. That was back in the  70s. Women were not respected there, back then.

@songbird@KKlim@cheriere@Pecky    I won't go on cruises either. I started going to Bermuda in the 70s and never felt unsafe there. The people were always lovely and welcoming to tourists. I have flown there 15 times. I love it so much.

They are having some problems with their economy and some unemployment, now.

We have not been since Covid and our favorite hotel, The Southampton Princess has been closed for renovations since then.

Another favorite, Elbow Beach Hotel has also been closed since Covid. I don't think they will re-open.

Grotto Bay is smaller and is an all inclusive hotel and only about 10 minutes from the airport. If we went back, I would probably stay there, as I did several times, years ago.

The south shore beaches are gorgeous and I think that it is still safe to travel there.

I read the Bermuda newspaper, The Royal Gazette, almost daily online.

Just this week, I was reading about a homeless problem and people in town, on Front St. asking for money. Some of the beautiful stores that we loved, are no longer there. Some did not survive Covid and lack of tourists.

Also, I read that there is not much left in St. George and some of the historic buildings are boarded up. A lot of the roads are rundown and not safe to ride motor bikes there. They are supposed to start repairing the roads, that have been deteriorating for quite a few years.

When we were there last, there were more larger cars on the roads and people were not keeping to speed limits anymore.

We used to love riding the mopeds, but have not done that in quite a few years.

However, it is still a beautiful island and I would love to go back. Read the Royal Gazette and you can see what is going on.

@Pecky  Are you going on a cruise or flying? Where are you staying? If you go into Hamilton, The Hog Penny is fun to go for lunch. Have you been to the Crystal Caves? That is interesting to see.

LOL...tough to read about Bermuda.  I miss it so much!  The closest you'll get to paradise.

@songbird  I agree, Paradise and my happy place. I love that it is so close to Boston, less than 2 hours away.

It has saddened me, to read what has been happening there, but I still want to go back again.  I really miss my little island.

We have met such wonderful people there. We have had friends that we made, who live in  Bermuda, come visit us here.

@Enufstuff  Heather Nova is a popular singer that was born in Bermuda.  She's more popular there and in the UK actually.  But I have some of her music.  She has a romantic past.  As a child she lived on a sailboat with her parents and spent years sailing around to different ports.  She had school via the radio.  Anyway she's still around and worth a listen.

@songbird   Thanks, I'll check it out. I'll ask Alexa to play some of her music.

@songbird   I did listen to a couple of Heather Nova's songs.

Her style reminds of someone else, but I can't quite place

           who the singer is.
