Rare twin elephants open gifts at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo

SYRACUSE, NY — It was packed at the zoo as neighbors came to watch the rare baby twin elephants open their enrichment presents, Sunday December 18th.

The zoo hosted more then 1,700 people as presents were given to the animals in honor of both Twin Day and the Holidays.

The rare twin Asian elephants Yaad and Tukada were born back in October.

The gifts were presented by Micron Technology!

@ChiliPepper How wonderful to see them so full of life! I watched the Instagram post and saw they were indoors. I did not know how well elephants particularly babies could tolerate cold and snow. Thank you for the updates. I enjoy them so much.

I was going to try to get to the zoo to see them this past weekend when I was off but it was closed due to the storm we had.

That's ok, as long as the animals are safe & warm.

That is so great that you can go see them eventually! I think it will be very hard not to climb over the fence and give them a huge twin hug! They are so so cute!
